The duties of a Police Officer in New York State are multi-faceted. Age Requirements for a New York State Trooper
You are required to be at least age 20 when applying, 21 at time of appointment. An applicant must not have turned 30 before applying, though this may be extended up to six years for active military service.
Education Requirements for a New York State Trooper
Interested parties must have a high school diploma, High School Equivalency diploma, or GED at time of application. They must also have completed 60 college credit hours by time of appointment. Thirty of these college credits may be waived, if the candidate has received an Honorable Discharge from the United States military or successfully completed a Certified Police Officer Training Course.
